{"id":211,"date":"2013-07-17T21:36:25","date_gmt":"2013-07-17T21:36:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theworldprovider.net\/site\/?p=211"},"modified":"2013-07-22T17:41:23","modified_gmt":"2013-07-22T17:41:23","slug":"wp-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theworldprovider.net\/site\/news\/wp-news\/","title":{"rendered":"WP News, July 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been busy the last couple of months preparing the release of <a href=\"http:\/\/lionfarm.bandcamp.com\/album\/bells-of-the-fallen-ep\">Lion Farm&#8217;s new EP<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 10 years after the fact (<em><strong>UPDATE: <\/strong>actually only five years; clearly I have lost track of time)<\/em>, Spiral Stairs of Pavement discovered our cover of &#8220;Kennel District&#8221; and expressed his slackadaisical approval on Twitter. I was tickled.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/theworldprovider.net\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/spiral__WP.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-212\" alt=\"spiral__WP\" src=\"https:\/\/theworldprovider.net\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/spiral__WP.jpg\" width=\"519\" height=\"94\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theworldprovider.net\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/spiral__WP.jpg 519w, https:\/\/theworldprovider.net\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/spiral__WP-300x54.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 519px) 85vw, 519px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;d be our performance at Waterloo&#8217;s Starlight club in\u00a0 2007 or 2008:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yI_5i7JeY-Y\" height=\"280\" width=\"450\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I recently found out that MySpace relaunched their latest version, but erased all the content on everyone&#8217;s pages except the music and profile picture. I found that pretty annoying. Like most people I stopped using MySpace a while ago, but I did have a bunch of blog posts up there from before this site was blog-enabled. There also used to be, some time ago, a database of all the past shows I&#8217;d done, which was helpful for the historical record. It would have been nice to at least have been notified (though, would I have opened an email from MySpace?). Oh well! I guess the bigger question is, is there any point whatsoever in updating the existing music or info on MySpace?<\/p>\n<p>Through a friend I found this link to <a href=\"http:\/\/deadgirlfriends.tumblr.com\/post\/55474844727\/extremely-long-and-unpleasant-post-about-the-music\">a rant<\/a> about the state of the music business by a musician named James Brooks. I&#8217;m not familiar with his work, or to any of the people he refers to, but I thought it summed up the situation quite well.<\/p>\n<p>Longtime friend and collaborator <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steveraegele.com\/\">Steve Raegele <\/a>has a track on a new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.believermag.com\/issues\/201307\/?read=notes_simonini\">Believer magazine comp<\/a> with his avant-jazz solo project. Lots of cool stuff on there.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, I recently demoed a bunch of new WP tunes. I&#8217;m pretty stoked about getting back on the horse, releasing some new music and doing a bunch of shows for 2014. Does that seem far off?
