{"id":498,"date":"2020-06-06T17:10:44","date_gmt":"2020-06-06T17:10:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theworldprovider.net\/site\/?p=498"},"modified":"2020-06-06T17:57:56","modified_gmt":"2020-06-06T17:57:56","slug":"wp-fundraiser-for-parc-ex-mutual-aid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theworldprovider.net\/site\/news\/wp-fundraiser-for-parc-ex-mutual-aid\/","title":{"rendered":"WP Fundraiser for Parc Ex Mutual Aid"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"231\" height=\"193\" src=\"https:\/\/theworldprovider.net\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/px-rainbow.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-499\"\/><figcaption>Parc Ex Mutual Aid<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>How\u2019s everyone doing out there?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What a time we\u2019re living in\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t have any big statement to make about the current unrest\u2014mainly because I think it&#8217;s more important, for me at least, to listen and learn from the people who are actually affected by this crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One valuable thing I heard (I wish I could cite the speaker directly, but it was in a sort of audio collage on <a href=\"http:\/\/ckut.ca\/en\">CKUT <\/a>while I was driving, so I couldn\u2019t find the source) was someone saying \u201cIt\u2019s nice of you [white people] to show up, but what we\u2019d like now is for you to stick around!\u201d Wise words, which added to my nagging feeling of \u201cwhat can I do to help?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, inspired by a few other friends who are using this moment to raise funds for worthy causes (such as longtime WP collaborator Todd Stewart\u2019s sale of his amazing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etsy.com\/ca\/shop\/breeree?section_id=6008837\">cityscape prints, with all proceeds going to charitable organizations in the respective cities<\/a>), I decided to do a fundraiser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So from now until the end of 2020, <strong>100% of proceeds from WP music and merch will go to Parc Ex Mutual Aid<\/strong>, an organization that helps the less fortunate in our neighbourhood, which is majority POC and low-income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of their current focus is on helping people get COVID-19 gear and preparedness, but they also help with groceries, housing, and other important issues.
